Special Containment Procedures: SCP-007 is to be contained in a standard containment chamber measuring 5m x 5m x 5m at Site-██. The chamber must be fitted with a secure locking mechanism and monitored by at least two security personnel at all times. Access to SCP-007’s containment chamber is restricted to Level 3 personnel and above, and is only permitted for research purposes.
SCP-007’s chamber is to be equipped with a filtration system capable of filtering out all atmospheric contaminants. All personnel entering the containment chamber must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent any potential exposure to SCP-007.
Description: SCP-007 appears to be a standard vintage analog clock made of brass and glass. The clock has no visible brand or markings, and its mechanism appears to function normally. However, SCP-007 presents several anomalous properties that manifest when it is observed closely or when one attempts to keep track of time using it.
Individuals who are exposed to SCP-007 for extended periods report experiencing a distortion of time perception. Those affected may feel that time is accelerating, decelerating, or completely ceasing to pass altogether. Prolonged exposure can lead to severe psychological effects, including anxiety, paranoia, and in extreme cases, dissociative episodes.
Conversely, SCP-007 will operate as a normal clock when not actively observed or when an individual is distracted. All instances of timekeeping during such periods align perfectly with actual time. However, discrepancies appear once the observer re-focuses their attention on SCP-007 or attempts to utilize it to determine the time.
Testing has shown that the perception distortion originates from SCP-007 itself rather than from any external environmental factors. Affected subjects may recover with time away from SCP-007, although some report lingering effects as much as several weeks after the initial exposure.
Addendum 007-A: Testing Records
Test 007-01 Subject: Research Assistant [REDACTED] Procedure: Subject exposed to SCP-007 for 15 minutes while taking notes. Results: After observation, the subject reported feeling that 45 minutes had passed. The subject displayed increased anxiety and a general sense of disorientation.
Test 007-02 Subject: Researcher Dr. [REDACTED] Procedure: Subject instructed to observe SCP-007 for periods of 1, 5, and 10 minutes. Results: Subject reported that time felt both compressed and stretched simultaneously. The phenomenon persisted even after leaving the containment chamber.
Test 007-03 Subject: D-Class personnel [REDACTED] Procedure: Extended exposure (1 hour) to SCP-007. Results: Subject exhibited severe paranoia and a belief that they were trapped in a time loop. Subject required psychological evaluation and intervention post-exposure.
