Item #: 2582

Object Class: Euclid Safe

Special Containment Procedures: As of now, SCP-2582 poses as little to no threat. However, due to the nature of SCP-2582-1, SCP-2582 is to be contained in research containment cell 143-A. SCP-2582 is to remain unplugged from power sources until testing. Testing must be authorized by one (1) Class B researcher with a clearance level of three (3) or higher. During testing, all site power is to be linked to an emergency shut-off switch as a precaution.

Description: SCP-2582, otherwise known as “The Prediction Channel,” is a flat screen television that broadcasts a live cable channel. The channel is only about making predictions of what’s to come, whether it happens tomorrow, in a month, or centuries from now. SCP-2582 also serves as the home of SCP-2582-1, otherwise known as “Dr. Monarch.”

SCP-2582-1, aka “Dr. Monarch,” is the host of the broadcasted channel. In the show, Dr. Monarch makes predictions of certain events, and when they will happen. For example, predicting that you will eat cereal for breakfast tomorrow. Over time, Dr. Monarch has revealed to us a pattern of how he predicts certain events, which has helped create a key to find how likely the predicted event will happen. The following is a key of likeliness of the prediction based on the factors of description and time:

Description Details Time Given Likeliness
Vague ≥ 1 month Unlikely
Specific ≥ 1 month Likely
Vague < 1 month Likely
Specific < 1 month Very Likely
Vague ≤ 1 week Very Likely
Specific ≤ 1 week 100%

While contained within a television channel, SCP-2582-1 is able to hear and speak with others as if they are in the same room as 2582-1. Because of this, SCP-2582-1 serves as an early warning system for the Foundation.

Addendum 2582-A: Initial Discovery

SCP-2582 was initially discovered when someone returned their television, stating that it only plays one channel. When the problem was looked into by retail store employees, they discovered that the host of the channel (SCP-2582-1) was able to hear and speak to them as if they were right next to him. Foundation personnel obtained the anomaly and has currently contained it in Site-226.

Addendum 2582-B: Interview with 2582-1

The following is an interview with Dr. Desmond and 2582-1:

Interviewed: 2582-1, “Dr. Monarch”

Interviewer: Dr. Desmond, Head Researcher

Foreword: N/A

<Begin Log>

Dr. Desmond: Hello. I am Dr. Desmond, Head Researcher of Site-226. Today, I am interviewing SCP-2582-1.

2582-1: Hello. I am Dr. Monarch, host of The Prediction Channel! It’s nice to be talking with you today, Dr. Desmond. It’s been a while since I’ve spoken with someone.

Dr. Desmond: I understand that. So, tell me…what exactly are you capable of?

2582-1: Well, I just make predictions on the show.

Dr. Desmond: I see. What is involved with these predictions?

2582-1: What’s going to happen, and when.

Dr. Desmond: Alright. Do you realize that your show has been shut down for over four years now?

2582-1: sigh. Yes. I found that out when I realized I was the only one left. It gets quite lonely sometimes, but the show must continue, with or without viewers.

Dr. Desmond: Mhm. So…how likely is it for these predictions to happen?

2582-1: Depends.

Dr. Desmond: Okay…

2582-1: Friday of next week at 6:50 AM, an anomaly within this facility will attempt to attack [REDACTED]. In the anomaly’s rampage, two very dangerous individuals will be claimed as part of the casualty report.

Dr. Desmond: Which entity will be the one-

2582-1: I cannot say. I only predict.

<End Log>

Closing Statement: The following week on Friday, at 6:50 AM, SCP-███ escaped containment and killed [REDACTED], a former researcher, as well as D-1843 and D-1974, the most dangerous D-Class at Site-226.

Addendum 2582-C: Prediction Reports

Prediction Results: Occurred on 04-12-████

Date: ██-██-████

Summary: SCP-2582-1 predicted a meteor guided by SCP-179 would nearly crash and destroy Site-146.

Prediction Results: Occurred on 09-06-████. A meteor narrowly missed Site-146. When communicating with SCP-179, SCP-179 confirmed they guided the meteor towards Earth.

Date: ██-██-████
