Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-016 is contained within a reinforced anomalous storage chamber at Site-██, positioned in Low-Risk Anomalous Object Bay 2. The object is to remain uncovered at all times except during authorized exploration procedures.
Under no circumstances are the fitted sheets covering SCP-016 to be removed while personnel or equipment are inside SCP-016-1.
All exploratory missions into SCP-016-1 must be conducted using tethered drone systems unless otherwise approved by Site Command. Human entry requires Level 3 clearance and prior psychological screening.
Personnel displaying compulsive desires to re-enter SCP-016-1 are to be removed from assignment and evaluated by Site psychiatric staff.

Description:
SCP-016 is a handcrafted wooden bedframe of unknown origin. When fitted with a mattress and organic-fiber sheets and properly made (three sides tucked), the volume between mattress and sheet becomes an entrance to an extradimensional space designated SCP-016-1.
SCP-016-1 is an apparently vast but topologically bounded environment consisting of:
- A continuous lower surface identical in texture to the mattress installed on SCP-016
- A continuous upper surface matching the fitted sheet material
These surfaces are flexible but completely indestructible from within SCP-016-1. All attempts at penetration or external scanning beyond these boundaries have failed.
The interior contains a breathable nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere. Ambient temperature and pressure decrease proportionally with distance from the entrance.
The upper sheet layer exhibits slow undulating motion consistent with external pressure from an unknown adjacent reality.
If the sheet is removed while SCP-016-1 is active, the extradimensional space collapses instantly at the bedframe boundary. Any personnel or equipment within SCP-016-1 at the time of collapse are permanently lost.
To date, thirteen (13) personnel have failed to return following extended exploration attempts.

Psychological Effects:
All sapient subjects entering SCP-016-1 report:
- Dim ambient illumination despite absence of a visible light source
- Perceived presences beyond the sheet surface
- Distant murmuring or whispering
- Intense feelings of safety, comfort, and nostalgia
Subjects who sleep within SCP-016-1 consistently report vivid dreams and develop a growing belief in the existence of an “exit” deeper within the space.
Repeated exposure correlates with:
- Increased emotional attachment to SCP-016-1
- Decreased desire to return to baseline reality
- Persistent belief that dreams experienced within the anomaly represent contact with an external location
No confirmed memetic or cognitohazardous agent has been identified; however, the behavioral attraction effect is considered significant.

Addendum 016-1: Signal Event
At ██:██:██ on ██/██/20██, a Morse-coded radio transmission was detected originating from approximately 120,000 km within SCP-016-1.
Simultaneously, monitoring equipment recorded a temporary corridor-like displacement of the sheet surface, exposing a direct visual channel into deeper regions of SCP-016-1.
Spectral analysis of distant light signatures revealed a 99.85% match with Earth's atmospheric composition.
The transmission repeated eighteen (18) times before ceasing.
Full transcript remains under memetic review.
Following the event, SCP-016-1 returned to baseline configuration. Exploration beyond 350 km remains logistically unfeasible due to fuel and tether constraints.

Note from Site Director ███████:
SCP-016 may represent an artificial extradimensional transit interface. The psychological effects observed suggest the environment may be optimized for long-duration habitation.
Further deep-range exploration proposals remain under Ethics Committee review.
